Road Rules
Andrew Chambers
Have you ever intentionally put yourself out of your comfort zone? Like going on a trip and not knowing where you are staying? Or choosing to serve with total strangers in an unfamiliar place?
Being out of your comfort zone is actually a really good thing, and it can often be a really Kingdom thing. Often times Jesus asks us to do things that feel risky or uncomfortable and, if we are honest, we kind of have to train ourselves to be comfortable with the uncomfortable.
That's what our friends at Narrow Road ministries have discovered, and a few weeks ago, they brought a group of highschoolers down to us on a trip called "Road Rules". The concept is simple - show up to the church on Sunday morning with a backpack and some clothes and get in the van. "Where are we staying?" Don't know. "What are we going to eat?" We'll figure it out. "What's the point of all this?" To teach you how to live a life that's willing to follow Jesus into the unknown.
The team arrived on Tuesday and joined us for all team before spending the next two days serving on campus and at the garden. We were very grateful for their help! On Thursday night, we got to treat the team to a surprise as they joined us for our semester-ending beach party at Lake James and a final campout before heading home.
We're thankful for Daniel, Rachel, Jeff, Faith and the rest of the Narrow Road Ministries team!
