Christmas Party 2021
December 16, 2021
It's Christmas time here at Excel! So of course we had to have a party. As students who strive for excellence in all aspects of life, we went the extra mile for the "boujie" dress code! T'was a night for putting on your best dress (or suit), enjoying extravagant decor and delicious food, and going all out for a trivia game! Cheers to having a very Merry Christmas, indeed.
T’was the week before Christmas, when all through the campus
Every student was stirring, yes even the Chambers’ House
The chandeliers were strung in the Center with care
In hopes that St. Nick would also be there
The students hurried to get ready
Visions of Christmas finery filling their heads
All the helping hands finishing the last to-do’s
For the Center’s Christmas debut
When out in the parking lot there arose a great babble
The telltale sound of tires crunching on gravel
A flood of people poured in through the doors
Dressed to the nines and eager to see what we had in store
The light shone off the gold on the wall
Transforming the space into a grand hall
When to my wondering eye did appear
Soccer Rob without his beard
And all the little children so lively and quick
Quite like their pops in times passed, that good ole’ St. Nick
The camera flashed as people joined in the picture game
Calling to each other by name
Started with a few of the guys being merry,
Ending with the men chanting ‘Terry, Terry, Terry!”
As the men finished their play,
It was the women’s turn to take the night away
Dresses shimmering and dazzling against the gold,
They were truly a sight to behold!
So the night continued in a flurry
Until we were gathered together in a hurry
‘Time for a game of wits! A game of Jeopardy!’
Just like that the hall was split like the sea
Into two teams we were divided
The line was drawn, our names decided
‘Team Green, Team Red
Prepare all the Excel knowledge in your head!’
The air of competition began to sink in
And all were silent in the face of the first question
Voices arose with a din!
All clambering for their team to win
The entire room held its breath as we awaited
Answers that were likely to be debated
Riddles and Instagram archives galore!
Each team fought to win just one point more
Shouts filled the air
Both teams making sure all was fair
But in the end there could be only one winner
And it was the Team of Red who took the dinner
The night began its closing show
As the secret Santas made themselves known
Tissue paper strewn about
As gifts were opened with gleeful shouts
The joy of Christmas filled the air
As childlike spirit overflowed without a care
All left with a smile on their face
Even as the night settled into its place
T'was the week before Christmas
A ball for the ages
